10th Anniversary Celebration- A wonderful event!

At our main meeting in October, we celebrated 10 years of Rainworth & District u3a, traditionally known as a “Tin Anniversary” and one of our visitors was a “Tin Man!” Our raffle was tin themed too!

We welcomed Councillor Tom Smith who joined us for the event and together with Pam Berry, a previous Chair, cut our beautiful cake. He then gave a speech and a toast to our u3a.

The Ringtones entertained the 86 members and visitors who attended, singing celebratory songs with personalised lyrics. Pam Berry also challenged the members with a u3a based quiz.

We also surprised one of our members, Margaret Carter, with a cake and singing for her 90th birthday, what a pleasure to share both celebrations together.

The morning was filled with fun and laughter and greatly enjoyed.

Thank you to Councillor Smith, Pam Berry, Ann Mills and the Social Committee, Sylvia and Beryl for  the raffle and our 3 gents, David, David and Steve who served many drinks during the morning. Also thanks to Chris, Jean, Diana, Sheila and Diane for welcoming our members and visitors.
We are so fortunate to have “in house entertainment” and appreciate the commitment from Ian, our Musical Director, and the Ringtones for the lively entertainment and helping the celebration go with a swing!  Let’s look forward to the 15th anniversary!
